Epidemiology, Systematic Review and Health Policy Group

For optimal decision-making and the improvement of health care, efficient mechanisms are needed to evaluate interventions and measure their benefits and risks. Our proposal is to approach decision-making processes in health policies that are informed by the best available evidence. This research group arose from the emerging need by professors at the Paulista School of Nursing/Unifesp as well as associated researchers and students to learn the appropriate methodologies for an optimal decision-making in healthcare. As such, the group’s objectives are: To instruct nurses, health professionals, statisticians and managers to carry out studies using specific tools that are important in the decision-making processes. The methodologies used in this group aim to verify the temporal evolution of a given disease in a population, uncovering the best available evidence for decision-making in health.
