  • Critérios de ingresso
    Classes are open to graduate students interested in non-pharmacological strategies for managing and preventing chronic conditions. Students with any background (formal or informal) in movement sciences (e.g., physical education, physiotherapy) and nutrition are welcome. Classes will be conducted in English. Therefore, attendees are expected to understand the language, including technical terminology, and possess the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ementa
    Chronic condition is broad term encompassing various health states with complex causes (multifactorial etiology). These conditions require ongoing medical attention and significantly impact an individual's quality of life and autonomy. As chronic conditions progress, they increase the risk of adverse events like hospitalization and premature death. This creates a substantial financial burden on both individuals and healthcare systems.
    Given this reality, developing strategies to prevent the onset or slow the progression of chronic conditions is crucial in public health. Regular physical activity and healthy eating habits are frequently cited as effective strategies for managing chronic conditions.
    The present course seeks to introduce, discuss, and critically analyze the latest findings on the effects of healthy lifestyle habits (e.g., physical activity, exercise, and nutrition) on chronic condition management.
    The course has 28 hours, divided into 7 weekly classes, from 14:00 to 18:00. Classes are expository, with instructors presenting key concepts and current research on each topic. Following lectures, students will work in groups to analyze and discuss recently published articles in the field.
    Active participation is encouraged. Share your expertise, ask questions, and engage in thoughtful discussions. Openly present and discuss contrasting viewpoints. Instructors will act as facilitators, guiding critical reflection on the course material.
  • Avaliação de aprendizagem
    Students' grades will be assigned according to their participation in the classes and the quality of their presentation in the 7th meeting. The level of English will not be subject to any evaluation.

    4th) Health Lifestyle Habits and Musculoskeletal Diseases.
    5th) Health Lifestyle Habits and Immune/Oncological Diseases.
    6th) Health Lifestyle Habits and The Brain.
    7th) Students' Presentations.
