RESOLUTION No. 204/2021/ UNIVERSITY COUNCIL
Provides for the internal regulations for postgraduate studies and research at the Federal University of São Paulo (Unifesp).
COMPETENCES OF THE POSTGRADUATE EDUCATION COMMITTEE
Art. 42. It is incumbent upon CEPG:
I - prepare the global planning of the PPG, as well as approve the plans of activities and disciplines;
II - determine the maximum deadlines for obtaining the titles of Master and Doctor, respecting the general guidelines established in this Regulation and by the CPGPq;
III - coordinate and evaluate the execution of programmatic activities and disciplines;
IV - analyze and accredit new disciplines observing their merit and importance in the area of concentration, as well as the specific competence of the responsible faculty;
V - permanently coordinate and evaluate the composition of the PPG body of advisors, in order to ensure a high academic standard;
VI - prepare the notices for the selection processes, which must contain the number of available places, the evaluation criteria and the bibliographic references to be consulted, as well as the transparency of the process, with wide dissemination of the results and the forecast of the possibility of resources, in addition to the criteria and number of vacancies for affirmative actions aimed at including black people, indigenous people, people with disabilities, low-income or public education, or groups of high social vulnerability;
VII - designate the Selection Committee for student candidates to enter the program and monitor the different stages of selection; VIII - determine the criteria for the distribution of PPG scholarships;
IX - decide on requests for cancellation of enrollment, exemption or postponement in the fulfillment of mandatory disciplines or activities, in compliance with the provisions of these Regulations;
X - to approve the names of the members of the judging committees for the qualification exams;
XI – to approve the names of the members of the judging committees of the dissertations or other conclusion works and theses and their respective alternates and forward them for approval by the UU's CaPGPq;
XII - forward the results of dissertation and thesis defenses for approval by CaPGPq;
XIII - select and/or nominate students to participate in awards notices or PPG representations in academic events;
XIV - monitor the management of the financial resources allocated for the maintenance of the PPG, respecting the legal and administrative regulations on the matter;
XV - ensure the faithful fulfillment of the criteria established by the current legislation with regard to stricto sensu postgraduate courses;
XVI - submit, for approval by the CaPGPq of the respective UU, changes in the PPG Rules, including changes in the name of the PPG; XVII - call, by decision of the majority of its members, extraordinary meetings of the collegiate;
XVIII – supervise the PPG secretariat, which will be responsible for: inserting and updating all information relating to PPG students and faculty in the institutional databases; verification of compliance with all the necessary procedures for forwarding a request from examining boards for dissertation or thesis defenses; forwarding of documentation and memos to the UU's CaPGPq signed by the PPG coordinator;
XIX - to establish deadlines for proficiency and qualification exams, as well as for the delivery of reports from graduate students;
XX - keep PPG information updated, in electronic media;
XXI - issue a detailed opinion on the equivalence of Master's and Doctor's degrees, in their area of expertise, obtained abroad, at the request of higher instances;
XXII - to prepare the internal rules for the functioning of the postdoctoral fellow, in accordance with the rules of this Regulation; XXIII - to decide, in the first instance, on any issues not related to the PPG;
XXIV - to decide, in the first instance, on the appeals filed by students, advisors or researchers from their respective PPGs;
XXV - perform other acts within its competence delegated by CPGPq.
