The aim of this area is to provide multidisciplinary training, integrating knowledge from the fields of medicine, biology and psychology in the study of psychoactive substances and problems associated with its use. Studies involve researching the underlying neurobiology of the effects of psychotropic substances (neuroadaptative processes, genetics, epigenetic, risk, psychosocial and environmental factors) and developing and/or evaluating innovative pharmacological and psychosocial interventions aimed at different populations of substance abusers.
