Investigations in this area aim to study emotional, cognitive and/or motivational behavior in healthy and pathological conditions in both humans and laboratory animals. Research projects intend to help unravel the neurobiological mechanisms of these types of behavior, primarily by two approaches: 1) the use of manipulations such as exercise, stressful events, inactivation of brain structures, complementary medicine techniques, or changes in neurotransmitter systems with the use of psychotropic drugs; and 2) relations between behavioral data and biological parameters, throughout life in healthy and pathological conditions.
