Graduated with a major in Biomedicine from Universidade de Santo Amaro (1983), with a Master in Pharmacology, from Escola Paulista de Medicina (1987) and a Ph.D. in Psychobiology, from Universidade Federal de São Paulo (1990). From August of 1990 to December of 1993, I did my Post-Doctorate in the Laboratory of Developmental Psychobiology, in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of Stanford University. Currently, I am Associate Professor of the Department of Psychobiology in the Universidade Federal de São Paulo, working and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Psychoneuroendocrinology, Psychopharmacology and Neurobiology of Stress. My research projects are concentrated on the neurobiology of stress as a triggering factor for psychiatric disorders in animal models based on neonatal stress and the stress of inadequate sleep, such as sleep deprivation and sleep restriction. I also work as an ad-hoc reviewer for CNPq and FAPESP, in addition of scientific journals. I am part of the Editorial Board of journals, such as Sleep, Frontiers in Sleep and Chronobiology and Frontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience.
