Hanna Karen Moreira Antunes graduated in Physical Education from Universidade Federal de Uberlândia in 1999, obtained a M.Sc. in Psychobiology in 2003, from Universidade Federal de São Paulo. She obtained a Ph.D. from the Universidade Federal de São Paulo in Sciences in 2006.

Nowadays is Professor in Universidade Federal de São Paulo - Campus Baixada Santista (since 2006) in the Department of Biosciences. Her research is focused on the impact of sleep deprivation and exercise on protein turnover, specifically in skeletal and cardiac muscle and adipose tissue. She is also interested in how exercise impact on the sleep, affective responses, cognition and exercise addiction in humans. Her research is funded by the Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP), CNPq, Capes.
