Graduate fellowships may be federally university-awarded (CAPES) or offered by independent organizations (FAPESP, CNPq, private companies etc.)

Portable fellowships can award funding based on academic need, academic record, or merit. The amount of the stipend granted varies depending upon a number of factors, including the length of graduate school fellowships and fellowship provider. The Graduate Program awards institutional fellowships, attributed to the Program by CAPES (a federally university-awarded institution).  The distribution of these fellowships to students is determined by the program, using the candidates’ classification on the Admissions Examination as the main criterion (see the admission tab). Public Notice on the available fellowships in the semester will be released at least 2 times a year.
